Which Horses Benefit?
- For all Palomino horses, especially show horses
- Buckskins, Duns, Cremellos, Champagnes or any other dilute colour
- Horses on white feed diets which are often deficient or lacking essential vitamins and trace-minerals for optimum health and vitality
White feed diets typically avoid added fats or oils and reduce protein, especially from lucerne hay or chaff. It is also recommended to eliminate most commercial complete feeds containing molasses, in order to reduce smutting. White feed diets are generally based on plain cereal grains (such as wheat bran, pollard or millrun), cereal chaff and hay (ie wheaten or oaten) and some grass hay.
Major Ingredients
Palomino Gold contains balanced levels of trace-minerals, bone minerals, and vitamins, specially formulated to reduce the risk of patchy colour and formation of black hairs in the coat of Palominos and Buckskins.
Blend of cold-pressed, colour coded Supplet® pellets separated into 4 compatible nutrient groups which ensures the potency and stability of the vitamins and trace-minerals in the supplement and in the feed.
Bone minerals including extra magnesium
Balanced levels of essential trace-minerals in organic chelated and inorganic forms for optimum digestive absorption.
Full range of vitamins and vitamin co-factors including extra vitamin E, C and B1
Fully organic chelated selenium (as selenomethionine) and chromium, especially helpful for Australia’s selenium-deficient soils
Does not provide extra energy, sugar or cause ‘fizz’, even in sensitive horses.
Pelleted and palatable supplement which mixes easily into all types of feeds (wet or dry). Reduces wastage from dust, sift-out, sludging and blow away from feeders.
Palomino Gold is a concentrated supplement, all you need to add is salt relative to exercise needs
Palomino Gold does not swab or contain banned substances and does not contravene the Rules of Racing or FEI Competition. This product is a nutritional supplement to support the health and well-being of a horse. It does not artificially enhance the performance of racing or competition horses. Rules prohibiting the use of any pre-race supplements within 24 hours of racing should be followed if applicable in the local jurisdiction.

Our Concept for Palomino Gold

What is ‘Smutting’?
Smutting refers to the growth of black hairs and dark patches in the coat of a Palomino, Buckskin or Dun. It is not ‘show standard’ and considered unattractive in the show ring. However, not all Palominos smut, it depends if they have the genetic tendency to develop black hairs in their coat. If your Palomino doesn’t smut, or you don’t care about smutting (ie your Palomino is an Equestrian riding horse, not a show horse), then you don’t need to use Palomino Gold. You can choose any ration balancer from the Kohnke’s Own range, such as Cell-Vital, Cell-Provide or Cell-Ultimate.
What is a White Feed?
White feed diets typically avoid added fats or oils and reduce protein, especially from lucerne hay or chaff. It is also common to eliminate most commercial complete feeds containing molasses, in order to reduce smutting. White feed diets are generally based on plain cereal grains (such as wheat bran, pollard or millrun), cereal chaff and hay (ie wheaten or oaten) and some grass hay.
Palominos on white feed diets often become deficient or lack essential vitamins and trace-minerals for optimum health and vitality. This is why Palomino Gold is an essential supplement to nutritionally support wellbeing and coat colour which reflects optimum health.
What about other Coloured Horses?
If your Palomino or Buckskin doesn’t smut, or you have a chestnut, black, grey or bay, all our other ration balancing supplements would be more suitable and more cost effective. Palomino Gold is a ‘light’ balancer, as the nutrients are carefully formulated at specific levels to match a white feed diet and reduce or avoid smutting.
Supplements such as Cell-Vital, Cell-Provide or our premium daily ration balancer, Cell-Ultimate, will create the same excellent coat colour brilliance, shine and good health for all ‘normal’ coloured horses.
