Which Horses Benefit?

  • Athletic horses in regular training, racing or upper level equestrian competition
  • Allows careful adjustment of the iron levels in the diet to the training intensity or exercise level of the horse.
  • Horses with poor coat condition, colour intensity or reduced vitality
  • Helpful to enhance coat colour intensity in black, bay, brown or chestnut horses with normally low dietary iron levels.
  • Horses with low blood iron levels, anaemic horses to supply supplementary iron, a safer oral alternative to injectable iron preparations.

Major Ingredients

  • 3 forms of iron including high purity iron carbonyl, safe and bioavailable organic chelate of iron as well as iron sulfate as a concentrated inorganic source.
  • Vitamin B9 (folic acid), vitamin B12 and vitamin C for optimal iron absorption and utilisation
  • Pelleted and palatable supplement which mixes easily into all types of feeds (wet or dry).  Reduces wastage from dust, sift-out, sludging and blow away from paddock or yard feeders.
  • Cell-Iron does not swab or contain banned substances and does not contravene the Rules of Racing or FEI Competition. This product is a nutritional supplement to support the health and well-being of a horse. It does not artificially enhance the performance of racing or competition horses. Rules prohibiting the use of any pre-race supplements within 24 hours of racing should be followed if applicable in the local jurisdiction.

Supplementation Guidelines

Each level scoopful of Cell-Iron provides 30 grams (LARGE END) and 12 grams (SMALL END) of the double ended scoop.

For horses in early or moderate training, give 20 grams daily.  For athletic horses in full work or heavy training with grain-based home-mixed rations give 30 grams daily.  For top-up of prepared feeds give 12 g per 2 kg of additional grain added daily.

Pre-Race/Competition Supplementation.  Give 30 grams per day on the last 3 evenings prior to racing or competition and for 3 days after performance to help stamina and recovery.

Our Concept for Cell-Iron

Why Use Iron?

Horses on a predominantly hard-feed diet, or with limited grazing access,
can have inadequate levels of iron, in turn compromising their athletic
performance, stamina and blood oxygen levels.
The iron content and uptake of iron from feeds and forages can vary
significantly. Iron provided by grass and hay may be only 15-18%
bioavailable (even when soil content is high) due to the native form of
iron and the natural limit of digestive absorption.
Shortfalls of dietary iron have been associated with anaemia and low red
cell counts in performance and racing horses.

The Safest Way to Supplement

Cell-Iron is a great alternative to injectable iron preparations as orally
supplemented iron is less reactive, with a protected absorption route. In
a pelleted form, Cell-Iron is also more effective compared to liquid or
powdered iron supplements, which will react with sensitive vitamins in
feeds, particularly antioxidants.

No Banned Substances

Cell-Iron does not swab or contain banned substances and does not
contravene the Rules of Racing or FEI Competition, but rules prohibiting
the use of any pre-race supplements within 24 hours of racing should be
followed if applicable in the local jurisdiction.
